About Kazoku-Kan Judo Academy

Kazoku, is the literal translation from the Japanese meaning – Family.

No politics, No Ego, Just Judo!

Kazoku-Kan Judo Club’s Tuesday sessions are suitable for Adaptive (SEN) students from age 4 and above – please note this is a mixed ability class but we will always talk with parents beforehand to ensure their children will be getting the most out of each session.

Our Thursday session is also suitable for Adaptive (SEN) Students, but the age is *10 years and above as the syllabus is more suited to older pupils.

Our long term goal is to bring quality teaching and advance students through their grades at a pace that suits them. We take students from ages 5 upwards regardless of ability.

We do not discriminate and welcome members from any club from any association with adequate insurance.

We welcome all SEN students along with LGBTQIA+ students to our club setting, everyone has the right to train and will not turn you away, get in touch if you have any questions.

We encourage anyone that feels they can’t take part in sports to get in touch and see how we can help you to get involved.

Student fees are payable on a monthly direct debit, which includes membership fees and other perks, details can be found on our pricing link.

Your first session is FREE! Paid sessions will be active once that session have been redeemed. We have introduced a Direct Debit for convenience. Licenses will need to be paid for before we can submit members for gradings and competitions.

All staff are DBS enhanced registered and we have multiple staff members who have attended advanced Safeguarding courses and fully qualified first aiders on hand at every training session and event we attend. If you have any enquiries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

*Previous age was 14 but we feel that we can open up to a wider range of age groups on a Thursday evening.

International Success!

Kazoku-Kan has taken Adaptive Students to the Adaptive World Games in Holland on numerous occasions and won several accolades including World Gold Medalists, and Silver Medalists for competition and World champions for Kata

Learning Made Fun

We believe in making Judo fun and to do so we will work with you at a pace that suits you, not us. We will never force you into a situation you are uncomfortable with, everything will be tailored to your needs.

A Club without Barriers

We believe in an open door policy, we are an all inclusive club that will not turn anyone away based on their difficulties in life. Kazoku-Kan Judo Academy is one of the few Judo clubs in Worcestershire to accommodate Adaptive (SEN) players.

Olympic & Commonwealth Sport

Judo was first included in the Summer Olympic Games at the 1964 Games in Tokyo, Japan. After not being included in 1968, judo has been an Olympic sport in each Olympiad since then. Only male judoka participated until the 1988 Summer Olympics, when women participated as a demonstration sport.

Women judoka were first awarded medals at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Adaptive Learning (SEN)

Adaptive judo is specifically developed to encourage physical activity, inclusion, competitiveness and wellbeing to the wider judo community who live with a complex range of abilities and disabilities.

Kazoku-Kan has a range of players from SEN to mainstream and mixes all abilities to learn from one another. The club has gained respect from others for the dedication that the Staff put in to ensure the Club is top notch for Safeguarding it’s Students as well as Staff and Parents alike.

No Pressure Training

Kazoku-Kan Instructors believe that to gain the best results is to go at the Students pace and support the decisions of the Students. If a Student wants to compete, we will ensure they get to where they need to be in their training. Likewise, if a student just wants to do Gradings and club level activities, that will be catered for also. We believe that pressure puts too much stress on Students and it can hinder not only performance, but their happiness levels as well.
