East Midlands AJA Competition Results
You little Belters!
We attended the AJA East Midlands competition on the 4th December, 11 Judokas from Kazoku-Kan took part, both Junior members and Senior members.
First to fight were the Girls, Seren Ward and Chantelle Nally were up in their category against some serious contenders and considering that Seren had never done a competition before, she gave it her best shot and was awarded Bronze for her fights. Chantelle in her Second competition went in with determination and scored the Bronze in her category, some great Judo from all the competitors from all of the Clubs involved in the Girls category.
Next up, the boys took to the mat. Leo Nally went up first, a second competition fighter, had a great pull with his opponents and did well and was awarded the Bronze Medal! Isaac Collins in what would be his second competition put on a great show, beating his first opponent, but was forced to withdraw after an injury in the second fight, despite that he managed to get the Bronze medal in his category. Next we had Edi Howells and his Brother Dylan Howells fighting on different mats but at the same time! Both were new to competition and fought very well indeed, coming away with Bronze medals each for their fighting category.
Senior girls were next up with Molly Charlwood taking charge in her first competition in over 3 years and managed to Strike Gold in her category in a great showing of technique. Felicity Warburton was also up in the Senior Category and took charge with her opponents to walk away with the Silver Medal!
The Senior men were last up for the day, first up Stephen Eades took to the Tatami and put in a great effort against some serious competitors to grab the Bronze medal in his Category. Followed by Kerry Nally in his first ever competition, again was against some very tough competition but still did enough to be awarded the Bronze medal. Liam Jones in what would be one of the toughest fights he's had so far, secured the Bronze after having to withdraw from the competition due to an Arm lock injury.
All in all, the Club came away with 11 Medals, 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 9 Bronze medals.
Head Coach and 3rd Dan, Rich Morrish said "It's always amazing to watch these students in competition, they give it their all and come away with a smile on their faces at the end of it. I am very proud of them and everyone that attends Kazoku-Kan Judo Club, we have built it from nothing and now one of the highest ranked Judo clubs in the county."
