Veteran players, Sophie Kenny, Felicity Warburton and Liam Jones were joined by first time participant Tyler Bedenham. The event was incredible with some amazing Judo to be seen from adaptive players from all over the UK, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Liam was against a world champion and it was a battle of the wills, after a great performance from Liam (And one torn jacket later) he managed to secure a British Silver medal. Felicity was up next and was put into a show contest with 6th Dan, Kerry Tansey and 2nd Dan Maggie Magee from Northen Ireland. Felicity, despite being a little rusty put on a show and was able to secure the Gold medal and title of British Champion. Up next Tyler, in his very first competition literally roared onto the Tatami and fought like a lion with his pool of competition. Tyler was noted as player of the day by Club Head Coach Richard Morrish for his tenacity and bringing a second British silver medal for the club, this was such a well fought pool that Tyler was also promoted up to 5th Mon for his fighting prowess. Last but certainly not least was Sophie Kenny, who due to her health conditions fights in Ne-Waza (Ground contest), she showed some great technique against her opponents and walked away to secure the British Gold and title of British Champion.
Sensei Richard Morrish said: "Whenever we attend these events, these guys just knuckle down and crack on with their Judo and it's an absolute joy to see them put into action what they learn in the club, I am proud to be their mentor and mat-side coach."
Kazoku-Kan train every Monday evening at St. Peters first school, Droitwich Spa from 18:30 - 20:15 and Saturdays at Physique Fitness, Berry hill industrial estate, Droitwich from 10:30 - 12:30.
